Australian-Made Safety Chain Holder (3.5t ATM)
Safety chain holders are integral to towing safety. Like most things in the towing industry, the type and size of your chain connection largely depends on your Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM). This chain holder has been tested and rated to a maximum 3500kg ATM per ADR 62/02 requirements.
See wireframe schematic for measurements: Chain Holder Technical Drawing
2.5t ATM Applications (10mm Chain)
Australian trailers 2500kg ATM or under must have (at least) one safety chain connection compliant with AS 4177.
In most cases, this will be a 10mm chain, hammerlock, and a drawbar connector. This drawbar holder is included in all Couplemate™ 2500kg ATM Safety Chain Connection Kits.
3.5t ATM Applications (13mm Chain)
Australian trailers over the 2500kg ATM mark, and up to 3500kg ATM, must have two safety chain connection compliant with AS 4177.
If you have a 3.5t ATM caravan, you’ll likely have two rated 13mm chains, hammerlocks, and drawbar connectors. This drawbar holder is included in all Couplemate™ 3500kg ATM Safety Chain Connection Kits.
