4.5t ATM Safety Chain Kit (10mm G80 Herc Alloy)
Safety is our top priority. The Couplemate™ 4.5t ATM G80 Safety Chain Kit provides a reliable and safe tow chain connection.
Each kit includes chain holders for your vehicle’s towbar and caravan/trailer drawbar.
N.B. The chain holders are rated to 7200kg ATM. Galvanised chain and dee shackles are not approved over 3.5t.
Welding & Installation Guide
Correct welding is vital for safety, so a suitably qualified person must install the drawbar chain holders. The mounting material must be a C350 section (or equivalent) and 3mm thick at a minimum.
Important: The weld leg must be (at minimum) 5mm on all sides.
Drawbar Application
- The chain retaining pin must be vertical to the ground.
- Mount and weld the chain holder as close to the drawbar coupling.
- Ensure the pin stopper is welded on the opposite side of the lynchpin.
- Weld safety chain holders directly to the trailer chassis rail and along all sides of the component.
Towbar Application
- The chain retaining pin must be horizontal to the ground.
- Weld holders as close as possible to the tow bar attachment.
- Weld the pin stopper on the opposite side of the lynchpin.
- Weld completely along all sides of the component.
