Tuson Caravan Sway Control
Tuson Caravan Sway Control (TSC) is the most intelligent electronic sway control system in the USA.
Automatic sway control continuously monitors trailer yaw and rapidly identifies and electrically corrects a trailer sway condition.
Unexpected sway during normal driving conditions activates electronic sway control.
Caution: We recommend that an auto electrician install your sway control.
Tuson USA is the inventor and patent holder for sway control, which brakes the left or right wheels to correct the sway. It works the same as the stability control fitted to your car.
Sway Controllers like BMPRO and others are sold under licence to Tuson USA.
What happens with no sway control?
A caravan rollover was reported on Channel 7 News. For more on this story, click this link.

What is the difference between Tuson and other sway controllers?
Tuson Sway controllers brake independently on the left or right side of the caravan. Other controllers brake both the left and right-hand sides simultaneously.
Sway control auto-calculates travel distance and speed, then regulates sway by applying a proper braking level where necessary.
In other words, sway control provides braking to independently increase or decrease voltages to either side of the caravan braking system.
Other brands brake simultaneously on both sides of the caravan.
Why do caravans need sway control?
Variations in driving conditions fall into preventable and unpreventable driving conditions. Examples are:
- Side winds
- Passing Semi-Trailers and Buses
- Windy valleys and terrains
- Incorrect weight distribution
- Speed
- Uneven tyre pressure
- The suspension was installed too far forward of the centre
- Tieness
Expect the unexpected when driving on the highway, especially the interstate highways. Tucson sway control monitors your trailer or caravan, adjusting sway when necessary.
A patented asymmetric system (independent left and right side braking) continuously monitors trailer yaw.
A trailer sway condition rapidly identifies sway and as a result, applies braking force on one side of the trailer.
This action directly counteracts trailer sway with minimal speed loss and greater stability control.
How does sway control work?
Each TSC has a wired red/green LED light to show its functional status. Different flashing modes identify diagnostic troubleshooting. The TSC is designed to be mounted on the trailer in a location that is easy to see from your tow vehicle mirrors.
The TSC is wired directly into the trailer braking system and automatically adjusts to improve braking effectiveness and even detect off-road towing conditions. Importantly, the wiring diagram is easy to follow and included with your purchase.
Friction control couplings and automatic sway bars have become secondary anti-sway tools, but are they needed at all?
Friction control is an older technology used to control caravan sway effectively.
The latest electronic sway control is considered more effective than mechanical sway control. It is so popular that most caravan manufacturers are now installing this form of sway correction.
Tow Ball or Coupling Weight
Coupling head weight is the first step in sway control. Head weights for tandem trailers under 5% and caravans under 7% will cause sway problems. Weights over 7% add to the car suspension and may lift the headlights.
Coupler head weights between 7% and 10% are suitable for single-axle trailers.
Do tandem axles naturally sway less than single axles?
Yes, the higher amount of road friction applied by tandem axle groups reduces sway.
However, a low coupling head will increase sway even for tandem axle kits.
Therefore, coupling head weight is critical to measure when towing a caravan.
Aftermarket Trailer Brake Controllers
The TSC has been tested with various aftermarket brake controllers without experiencing compatibility issues. This list is not exhaustive; it may still work if your brake controller is not listed.
