All trailers in Australia, including caravans and campers, must be connected to the tow vehicle through a rated chain.
It’s common to use D-shackles as connectors between the safety chain and the tow bar. D-shackles are cheap, simple to attach/detach, and provide a secure connection, making them an easy choice for trailer and caravan owners.
The size of the pin can be difficult for some to remove, in which case this 10mm hook set may be a more convenient option.
