Disc Brake Pads (Pair) – USA Calipers

Couplemate™ manufactures replacement American boat trailer brake pads to suit DeeMaxx or Kodiak hydraulic discs. Our brake pads are an excellent choice for aftermarket spare parts, as the pad surface is made from ceramic. Compared to organic or metallic materials, ceramic offers durability and superior brake performance for trailers.

These pads are available as stainless steel or painted. While more expensive, stainless is often preferred for saltwater use as it provides better rust resistance (compared to the standard painted version).

How do brake pads work?

Brake pads clamp down on the disc rotor in mechanical and hydraulic caliper brakes, creating friction between the pad’s coarse surface and the rotor face. This causes your trailer or caravan to brake.

On Hydraulic Calipers

Installation Notes

Remove caliper and old pads.
- Do not disconnect the hydraulic brake line.
Insert the disc pad into the piston.
Push it back to its original position with aG-Clamp.
Insert the other disc pad.
Re-insert caliper onto the rotor.
Bolt the caliper to the bracket.

N.B. Use thread sealer on caliper bolts if you travel long distances, as corrugated roads may cause bolts to loosen.

How to Bleed Caliper

Attach a clear tube to the top of the nipple.
Air rises to the top of the hydraulic chamber.
Momentarily pressurise the brake lines.
Release the nipple until air escapes.
Once the air has stopped escaping, stop bleeding.
Move to the next caliper and repeat process.
