Combination Pintle Hook with 50mm Tow Ball – Aftermarket
Combination pintle hooks are popular in the towing industry as they provide convenience. With one product, you’re able to tow multiple types of trailers without the need to switch out towing devices.
N.B. This pintle hook may be used as an alternative to the Couplemate™ CM500 (currently sold out).
Pintle Hook Towing Applications
This pintle hook may be used on-road in the following applications:
- 50mm ball coupling (maximum ATM of 3500kg).
- 75mm ring coupling (maximum ATM of 6000kg).
For off-road use, ensure you reduce the above capacities by 25% and use a swivel-type coupling.
N.B. Ensure the coupling used is compliant with AS 4177 and ADR 62/02. Do not exceed the stated capacities.

This component does not have a Component Type Approval (CTA) but does have CRN numbers prior to RVS Act (2018).

Bolt Specifications
This component is supplied with four high tensile mounting bolts (including nuts and spring washers).
- Strength: Grade 8
- Diameter: 1/2″
- Thread: UNF
Mounting Instructions
- Fit the pintle hook to a clean, flat vertical surface.
- The mount surface must be of sufficient strength to support more than the highest-rated capacity of the unit being fitted.
- Use the four 1/2″ bolts, nuts, and spring washers and tension appropriately.
- If longer bolts are required, ensure the bolts are high tensile grade 8 and fit with high tensile grade 8 nuts and suitable spring washers.
- Do not use Nyloc nuts with this component.
N.B. The mounting bolt hole dimensions are 85mm x 45mm (centres).
