Do’s: Installation & Care
✔ Verify Side Orientation: Ensure you install the specific left-hand or right-hand plate on the correct side, as the park brake levers are direction-specific.
✔ Align Shoes & Adjusters: Ensure your brake shoe notches align perfectly with the brake adjuster to avoid drum overheating.
✔ Check Magnet Wear: Routinely check the built-in wear depth indicator holes on the magnet face; if they aren’t visible, replace the magnet.
Don’ts: Common Mistakes
✖ Don’t Tap Taillight Wires: Avoid wiring your brake magnets directly to the taillight circuit, as thin cables cause severe voltage drops.
✖ Don’t Ignore Uneven Wear: Do not patch-fix isolated parts; if one element of the backing plate is heavily worn, the rest are likely ready to fail.
✖ Don’t Force Off-Centre Shoes: Never complete an assembly if the shoes look distorted or off-centre from the main backing plate base.
✖ Don’t Overload the Axle: Do not exceed the recommended maximum axle capacity (typically 1600kg per pair for a standard 10″ setup).
